Annual Meeting
The Cincinnati Bar Association held its Annual Meeting on April 25. The meeting was attended by more than 200 lawyers, judges, and law students. Hon. Janaya Trotter Bratton was sworn in as the CBA’s first Black woman President. Trotter Bratton spoke about her experiences as a judge and her commitment to justice and equality.
The meeting also featured a number of awards presentations.
The Themis Award, the CBA’s highest honor, was presented to Alphonse Gerhardstein, a civil rights lawyer who has dedicated his career to fighting for justice for the poor and marginalized. The John W. Warrington Community Service Award was presented to David Horn, a retired executive who has been a tireless advocate for social justice. The John P. Kiely Professionalism Award was presented to Randolph Freking, a litigator who is known for
his dedication to his clients and his commitment to the highest standards of professionalism. The Volunteer Lawyer of the Year Award was presented to Jack Fuchs for his decades of service to the Volunteer Lawyers Project and his extensive pro bono service to the community.
The Cincinnati Bar Association annual meeting is a time for the legal community to come together and celebrate the CBA’s leadership and their work to uphold the legal profession and make a difference in the community.
