 LGBTQ+ INTEREST GROUP
Tell us a bit about your background – education, hometown, current job.
I grew up here in Cincinnati, but moved away for about 15 years as a young adult. During that adventure, I lived in a few different places between Paris and Austin, Texas until attending law school in Chicago. After graduating from Northwestern, I started my practice at Dinsmore & Shohl here in Cincinnati. Currently, I work at GE Aerospace supporting our Global Supply Chain organization.
When and why did you become involved in the LGBTQ+ interest group?
I’ve been involved with the CBA as a member since my 2L summer. I joined the leadership team of the LGBTQ+ interest group a couple of years before serving in my current role as chair. I think that the LGBTQ+ interest group gives members important insights into legal developments that impact the LGBTQ+ community as well as an opportunity to connect with other members. I’m excited to be a part of that.
What conversations do you like to have with your fellow group members?
From law students to seasoned practitioners, I like to hear how the group can provide more value to the membership. I believe that the group is established to provide value and serve its members, so we are always looking for a clearer way to achieve that goal.
What’s on the horizon/what are your goals in the 2023-2024 bar year for the group?
After a successful PRIDE kick-off event, the interest group is looking forward to our Annual Symposium on October 11, 2023. We chose to pair the symposium with National Coming Out Day to recognize the importance of visibility of LGBTQ+ attorneys in the legal profession. I’m also excited for increased coordination between the interest group and the local law school organizations, where we are planning to provide programming throughout the year, specifically for law students who are preparing to enter the profession.
What are your hobbies and/or what do you do for fun?
When I’m not working, I like to spend my time in the kitchen cooking and pairing food with good libations.
