LCBL Kicks Off the New Year!
Lawyers Connecting Beyond the Law convened their 2024 program at UC College of Law in January. Co-chaired by Hon. Karen Litkovitz and Michael Hawkins, LCBL focuses on making our local bar and community more welcoming and inclusive. This year’s theme of Creating Inclusive Communities through Belonging kicked off with two incredible special guests and
inspiring conversations.
LCBL members were joined by UC College of Law’s Dean
Haider Ala Hamoudi and Assistant Dean of Inclusive Excel- lence and Belonging Jenn Dye. Dean Hamoudi spoke about the power of examining the different cultures and beliefs underlying a society’s legal systems, while Dr. Dye shared her work as the director of the Nathaniel R. Jones Center for Race, Gender, and Social Justice; both captivated participants with their stories of experiencing exclusion and how this informed their intentional work to connect with others.
