Like a lot of other boys that grew up playing sports, my first dream was to be a professional athlete. Clearly that did not pan out, but the other occupation I always thought I would pursue was that of a writer. Since I had such a love for sports, I wanted to be a writer for a sports magazine like Sports Illustrated. I also wrote a lot of short stories growing up and wanted to write fiction novels.
My favorite vacation was a trip to Traverse City last fall. Every year my girlfriend and I take our dogs, Moose and Jezzebelle, on a trip to a different place with great nature trails and a beach. Traverse City was special because we had recently rescued a cat, Jafar, that was living outside of the Procter and Gamble building, and he was able to come with us. I am also planning a trip to South Africa in 2025, so if anyone has recommendations feel free to let me know!
My middle school had a “Teen Court” program where students were able to act as attorneys and jurors and decide the punishment for a teenager that had been convicted of a petty crime. I enjoyed the program so much that it led me to consider a career in law. That combined with my love for writing made law something I had to pursue.
I have one main goal for my first year as Chair and that is to increase involvement with the CBA community service group from a participation standpoint at events, and developing a core community service team for planning and execution of community service events. I believe if we can build a solid core group of people for the community service committee, it will make planning events and getting people to participate in those events much easier. So if anyone reading this wants to help out the community and get involved, please reach out to myself or Kate Lawrence, klawrence@cincybar.org, as we would love to have people as part of the Community Service Committee!
