Dear Editor:
I read with interest the article in this past Report (May/June 2023) about how the latest version of ChatGPT, ChatGPT-4, “passed the bar exam by a “significant” margin.” The inference I took from that statement is that the latest version of ChatGPT, ChatGPT-4, is “smarter” than the human bar appli- cant who took the same bar exam.
However, I suggest that if the human bar applicant who took the same bar exam as the latest version of ChatGPT, ChatGPT-4, also had an “open book” bar exam as the latest version of ChatGPT, ChatGPT-4, had, then the human bar applicant would probably also pass the bar exam by an even more “significant” margin.” I suggest any human bar applicant would greatly appreciate the opportu- nity to take the bar exam on an “open book” basis as the latest version of ChatGPT, ChatGPT-4. And would probably perform even better than the latest version of ChatGPT, ChatGPT-4, on the bar exam. Indeed, I wish I had the opportunity to have taken the bar exam on an “open book” basis. What an advantage that would provide!
Respectfully,
Michael B. Ganson, CBA Member

The Disability Foundation offers an alternative to disinheritance through three pooled trusts available only to disabled residents of Ohio. These trusts allow individuals with disabilities to buy the things they want and need, without worrying that their purchases might cause them to lose their government benefits. We offer both first and third-party trusts.
