Served Our Nation Basic Veterans Benefits Overview
July 11 | 12 – 1 p.m.
1.0 Hour of General CLE Credit (pending)
This one-hour presentation will focus on basic benefits for Veterans and Surviving Spouses, which are offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. We will overview all three components under the Veterans Administration
to include Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), and National Cemetery Administration (NCA). This presentation will also cover
basic State of Ohio benefits provided under Title 59 of the Ohio
Revised Code.
Trial Advocacy Institute
AN INTENSIVE PARTICIPATORY TRIAL SKILLS PROGRAM
July 14-19, 2024
University of Cincinnati College of Law, Potter Stewart U.S. Courthouse, and the Hamilton County Courthouse
Over 20 hours of CLE credit
is anticipated for Ohio and Kentucky. Documentation will be provided for self-reporting to other jurisdictions.
In this intensive week-long program, trial attorneys will learn by doing
by working through exercises
on opening statement, direct
and cross examination, closing argument and demonstrative evidence. Each participant will have the unique opportunity to receive individual mentoring and immediate, constructive critiques from experienced trial lawyers. The program culminates with the opportunity to conduct a trial before a jury and sitting judge.

The legal profession is demanding, with its
high-pressure environment often leading
to significant stress and burnout. Emerging
research in psychology and wellness under-
scores the critical role of self-compassion
in mitigating these challenges. Our workshop,
designed specifically for legal professionals, offers an evidence-based approach to integrating self-compassion into your legal practice.
With an eye towards the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct, Meriden McGraw, MPH will discuss the importance of implementing mindfulness and self-awareness to improve one's practice. By not just acknowledging, but embracing our own humanity, attorneys are better equipped to serve. She will specifically touch on the following Rules of Profes- sional Conduct:

• 1.4 Communication
• 3.5 Impartiality and Decorum of the Tribunal
