James A. Katsanis
1931 – 2024
Jim Katsanis had a long and meaningful life. He grew up in modest circumstances in Norwood, Ohio. The son of Greek immigrant parents, his family was always at the center of his life. Second only to his family was his enormous pride in his profes- sion. It is not an exaggeration to say that Jim loved being a lawyer. If he encountered a young person who seemed undecided about what to do in life, Jim was quick to recommend law school. In his
professional life, he took obvious satisfaction in dealing with attorneys who were forth- right and ethical. He was more disappointed than angry when he encountered an attorney who did not measure up to the standards he expected for a member of the profession.
While he finished his career at Frost Brown Todd, the majority of Jim’s career was spent as a sole practitioner with a general practice which included representing individ- uals, companies and particularly savings and loan associations.
In addition to his pride in his profession, Jim was justifiably proud of his service to the nation. After a four year stint of active duty, he continued to serve in the Air Force Reserve. His rank when he retired was Lieutenant Colonel. The Air Force twice recog- nized Jim for his meritorious service to our nation.
His life had many other achievements. However, the achievement of which he was most proud was his family. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Diane, and his four children, Julie Wilson, Jody Katsanis, Mari Huelskamp, and Ward Katsanis, plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
